I rate it a solid 3. The acting is pretty good for a slasher, and the characters aren't written as complete bastards.
Some evolve as the situation becomes dire and I wanted everyone to live to the end. The kills aren't really that noteworthy, but the fact that I never knew just who would be next to the chopping block is enjoyable.
It isn't groundbreaking, but if you're looking for another slasher movie that taps into the wave of 80s nostalgia I can recommend this one.
Clothes wrong, hair wrong, cars maybe, period phrases and speaking no way. I also picked out a few current phrases used in this decade that no one ever used back then.
Quite a nostalgic blast! Sometimes took itself a bit too seriously, but it works well as a nice flashback homage.
The cheesy dialogue isn't quite up to par with the classics, but it's not bad, either. There are several nice touches that really make this film memorable: unfortunately, the story isn't one of them.

Scary good fun. Great homage to 80s slasher movies. The high school characters were classics. Robert Patrick was great going full steam as the Vietnam vet high school vice principal.
A sometimes silly homage to the great slaughter films of the 80's. But the silliness is necessary just for the groans alone. You have the usual suspects who are going off to party, car breaks down, go to the scary house to get help, none available but still lets break in and look around, at times even split up!
I am sure you will see all the parts that you yelled at then and will now, too. The mostly young actors do pretty well but I suspect the performances were meant to reflect the acting of the 80's.
Great film. It actually seemed more like an 80's movie than most do. It had the music, the cars, the records on the wall, the clothes, and even 80's style slasher quality.

Lost After Dark is an intriguing attempt to recreate the style of a slasher straight out of the 80s, and while it does mostly succeed in this attempt, unfortunately it falls right in with the downright bad entries of the period.
Jeff Beck. A loving homage that is all sincere, no snark. It does break the rules for some clever twists, but it's never making fun of horror movies.
