Shulem's children try to provide comfort and Shulem notices Aliza has someone new. Akiva gets kicked out of home by Shulem and needs a new place to stay.
Shulem begins to feel guilty about his behavior and Giti's children manage without their father. Gitti is struck by a robber and Shulem's earnings begin to reduce.
Akiva reveals something about himself in a painting. Akiva takes Elisheva out to see a Kleizmer show. Akiva helps a friend find his mother and Shulem suffers from a heart attack.
Akiva is upset following his friend's medical emergency. Shulem gets in trouble with the Haredi rabbinical court. Shulem comes back to life and decides to revisit former flames.
Akiva notices signs that he should go after the one. Shtisel is generous, lighthearted, and nostalgic-even when the origins of its nostalgia remain elusive.
It's a soap opera, essentially, but superbly done - and like all good soap operas, it draws you into the lives of its flawed but very human characters.
